EXPERTISE

Co-development

Translate an application brief into material, geometry and validation decisions.

A PRACTICAL STARTING POINT

Connect the process to the purpose.

Gather drawings, operating conditions, volumes and constraints. Compare design options with a documented set of criteria before selecting a concept.

Questions to bring to the conversation

  • What is the application, and which requirements are essential?
  • How will the finished component be manufactured and assembled?
  • Which conditions should be represented in testing?
  • What happens at the end of the useful service life?

Any performance, food-contact or environmental claim needs evidence for the specific grade and application. Agree the validation and documentation requirements before selecting a final design.

Agree the specification

Document technical and economic constraints, known problems and the most useful improvement. Rank the criteria before choosing a concept or committing to tooling.

Iterate with evidence

Use design models, suitable simulation, representative prototypes and targeted tests. Each iteration should answer a defined question and record why a material or geometry changed.

Prepare production and follow-up

Review initial samples, inspection and assembly alongside the production plan. Maintain change control and compare actual operating results with the assumptions made during development.
