EXPERTISE

Industrialisation

Prepare the design, tooling and process controls for a repeatable production route.

A PRACTICAL STARTING POINT

Connect the process to the purpose.

Review tolerances, inspection, assembly, packaging and change control. Production approval should follow the agreed validation and sampling plan.

Questions to bring to the conversation

  • What is the application, and which requirements are essential?
  • How will the finished component be manufactured and assembled?
  • Which conditions should be represented in testing?
  • What happens at the end of the useful service life?

Any performance, food-contact or environmental claim needs evidence for the specific grade and application. Agree the validation and documentation requirements before selecting a final design.

Review manufacturability

Translate design priorities into achievable tooling details, process settings and inspection points. Consider part handling, assembly sequence and packaging alongside the geometry.

Approve representative samples

Establish the inspection method and the acceptance criteria for initial production. Confirm the selected material and process on samples representative of the intended manufacturing route.

Control production changes

Document the agreed drawing, material and process revisions. Track recurring issues and use the information to improve consistency across the planned product lifetime.
