EXPERTISE

Testing & validation

Build an evidence-based qualification plan around the finished application.

A PRACTICAL STARTING POINT

Connect the process to the purpose.

Specify the test method, sample preparation, environment and pass criteria. Keep component-level findings distinct from complete-system certification.

Questions to bring to the conversation

  • What is the application, and which requirements are essential?
  • How will the finished component be manufactured and assembled?
  • Which conditions should be represented in testing?
  • What happens at the end of the useful service life?

Any performance, food-contact or environmental claim needs evidence for the specific grade and application. Agree the validation and documentation requirements before selecting a final design.

Choose the right prototype

A geometric print can assess fit and assembly, while machining in the intended material or moulded samples may be needed for functional behaviour. Match the method to the question.

Measure what controls performance

Relevant checks can include dimensions, ageing, impact, deformation and thermal response. Record the complete test setup so that later versions can be compared.

Feed the result into design

Use findings to review wall thickness, geometry, material and tolerances. Keep component tests distinct from system approvals, and agree whether additional verification is needed before production.
